Authorities have recovered the body of a Mission teenager who went missing while swimming on South Padre Island.

Cameron County Parks Rangers reported they received a call at 11:09 a.m. today that a body washed ashore just north of the county beach access No. 5. This is near the location where Mario Alberto Silva, 17, went missing on Thursday.

Park Rangers and the SPI Fire Department recovered the body. Cameron County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Bennie Ochoa pronounced Silva dead. Ochoa ordered and autopsy to determine the cause of death.
