LA FERIA — Vietnam War veteran Joseph Perez moved to town 10 years ago.
He looked around for a Veterans Memorial and when he didn’t find one, he knew what he had to do.
Perez rallied a group of local veterans and over the last five years they have been working together raising money to build a Veterans Memorial in La Feria.
“We can’t wait to get the memorial going,” said Julian Guevara, Jr., city commissioner. “It will be a nice day for La Feria when it’s complete.”
At Tuesday’s city meet-ing, the La Feria Veterans Committee presented a check for $10,555 to the City Commission. And the committee asked the city to take over the Veterans Memorial project.
