BROWNSVILLE — Volunteers did their part for the Easter bunny Saturday, helping to fill roughly 35,000 Easter eggs with candy at the Downtown Rec Center.
This is the second Saturday in a row that volunteers have answered a call for help from the City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department as they work to get everything ready for their annual tradition, the upcoming Easter egg hunt Eggstravaganza at the Brownsville Sports Park at 6 p.m. on April 6.
While the department has had an eggs-cellent volunteer response to help with preparing for the event, Special Events Coordinator Shannon Contreras says there is still a need for adult volunteers for the event itself to distribute the eggs and make sure every-bunny goes home with some sweet treats for the season.
