24-year-old man shot, killed in rural Edinburg

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old man early Tuesday morning.

In a news release, authorities said deputies responded to the 2700 block of Alberta Road in rural Edinburg at 2:32 a.m.

“A witness advised that gunshots were heard from inside the residence and a male walked outside and collapsed on the driveway,” the release stated.

Authorities on Tuesday afternoon identified the man as 24-year-old Ricardo Guzman from the Edinburg area, according to an updated release.

When deputies arrived, they saw the man with gunshot wounds lying on the driveway.

EMS declared him dead at the scene.

The investigation is active and the sheriff’s office encourages anyone with additional information regarding the case to come forward.
