A Mercedes man was killed Saturday morning after the all-terrain vehicle he was driving struck a concrete barrier and turned over, police said.
Assistant police chief Frank Sanchez said Saturday that Mercedes police and emergency medical services responded to a rollover accident involving an ATV at about 10:35 a.m.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of First Street and Reynosa Avenue in Mercedes, where the man was “determined to be deceased at the scene of the accident,” Sanchez said.
“Investigators informed that the driver lost control of the ATV and impacted with a concrete barrier located on the levee,” Sanchez said.
The identity of the driver has yet to be released, and further details about the circumstances of the crash remain unclear as of press time.
