Sea Turtle Inc. on South Padre Island is inviting everyone who can make it to the organization’s 46th anniversary/founders day celebration on Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Registration for the annual Red Tide Ranger training is open for the classroom instruction that will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 30, at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Coastal Studies Lab at 100 Marine Lab Drive, in Isla Blanca Park, on South Padre Island.

One of Sea Turtle Inc.'s longest living residents died Monday, the nonprofit said on Facebook in a statement memorializing the beloved turtle.

Sea Turtle, Inc. staff wait patiently in the 30-degree temperatures outside their facility on Dec. 24 on South Padre Island. Armed with towels, gloves and a clipboard, they are on a vigil, not for the many visitors who flock to learn about sea turtles over the holiday, but to meet the incoming vehicles transporting cold-stunned sea turtles into their care.
