Dense fog advisory through the morning in some parts of Rio Grande Valley

HARLINGEN — A dense fog advisory for Cameron and Willacy counties is in effect until 10 a.m. this morning.

National Weather Service forecasters say visibility is limited to a quarter-mile or less.

As a cold front works its way through the area this morning, temperatures are expected to be more normal for early February and nearly 20 degrees cooler than yesterday at some locations.

Isolated showers and mostly cloudy skies will dominate the rest of today’s weather across the Rio Grande Valley and ranchlands.

For boaters, areas of sometimes dense fog are occurring and captains should exercise caution in the bay or gulf. A moderate chop on the Laguna Madre will subside to a light chop by afternoon with gulf seas of two to four feet, forecasters say.
