Governor seeks help fighting Zika; meeting to be held in Brownsville

Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner Dr. John Hellerstedt have sent out letters to county judges and mayors seeking their assistance in help fighting the Zika virus.

The letter sent today outlines steps that can be taken by Texans to help prevent the spread of the virus and the state’s commitment to help coordinate response efforts.

A roundtable discussion with Abbott, Hellerstedt and local officials will take place on Friday at UTRGV Brownsville campus where the group will discuss prevention efforts as the state prepares to enter the height of mosquito season.
