Flood advisory issued for Cameron County

The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for South Central Cameron.

The advisory remains in effect until 6:15 p.m. today.

The NWS reports that a 3:46 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Southmost, Downtown Brownsville, Cameron Park, Brownsville, Lincoln Park, Brownsville Fire Department Station Six, Hanna High School, Faulk Middle School, J.t. Canales Elementary School, Perkins Middle School, Gonzalez Elementary School, B I S D Administration Building, Martin Elementary School, Dean Porter Park, Gladys Porter Zoo, Linear Park, Longoria Elementary School, Cameron County Courthouse, North Brownsville Little League and Brownsville Public Library Southmost Branch.

The NWS reports additional rainfall of 1 inch is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.
