Robert C. Vackar has once again been recognized as one of the top Buick-GMC auto dealers in the nation. It’s an award that Vackar says was earned by the entire team.
At a May 2 ceremony, Buick-GMC Zone Manager Steve Kuhl and GM Regional Director Steven Burns presented Vackar with the 2022 Buick-GMC Dealer of the Year Award. It was a back-to-back win for Vackar and Bert Ogden Buick-GMC of Edinburg after having won the award for 2021 as well.
The Dealer of the Year Award is only given to the top 1% of GMC’s dealer principals at its 1,700 dealerships across the country. Bert Ogden Buick-GMC is the only dual dealership to win the award for both brands in Texas, and one of only five in the nation.
Although sales performance is a factor in winning the award, much of the criteria focus on customers’ experience with the dealer and his/her dealership. Buick-GMC tracks the dealer’s performance on the sale transaction, financing options, automotive service response, and even how the dealer interacts with customers both in-person and online.
For Vackar, it was not only a back-to-back win for Bert Ogden Buick-GMC, but also the second win this year for his Bert Ogden Auto Group, the dealership known for its “Dale Gas” slogan. Bert Ogden Auto Group’s Fiesta Chevrolet is a three-peat winner of the award.
“This honor is made more prestigious for the Bert Ogden Group because, once again, we earned this award for both Fiesta Chevrolet, and Buick-GMC simultaneously in the same year,” Vackar said at the awards ceremony. I give Billy (Kelley) credit for his dedication to not only our dealerships, but his store teams as well.”
Top executives of the Bert Ogden Auto Group were also on hand at the presentation to share their thoughts on winning the awards.
“Seeing Mr. Vackar receive such a distinction for living out the qualities of character, integrity, and excellence in customer care that he does is a privilege,” said Bert Ogden Auto Group CEO Natasha del Barrio. “This award is well-deserved.”
“It is an honor again to be named Dealer of the Year,” said Bert Ogden Buick-GMC General Manager Billy Kelley. “This award speaks of the passion and enthusiasm of each team member, and the incredible leadership of our Dealer.”
Bert Ogden Buick-GMC was the first dealership established by the company’s founder and namesake, Bert Ogden. Under Vackar’s and his wife’s Janet Ogden Vackar’s leadership, the chain has grown from three dealerships to 24.
