The Mission Economic Development Corporation and a steel distributor this week broke ground on a second manufacturing location there that will create 15 new jobs.

The new $9.5 million 100,000-square-foot industrial space known as the RODCO Industrial Center II will also have Hidalgo County’s fourth Harbor Freight Tools store right next door, which the company is also building.

The industrial center will have two buildings, one in the front along eastbound Frontage Road just west of Conway Avenue that will be two stories.

The top story will be 15,000 square feet of industrial office space that will be available for lease while the bottom story will have 43 square feet of warehouse space that will also be available for lease.

The second building will be in the back and house RODCO’s door manufacturing plant will be 43,000 square feet.

The company, which initially relocated to Mission in 2017, has experienced tremendous growth, according to the Mission EDC.

Right now, RODCO manufactures prefabricated metal buildings for various industries like agriculture. The company also distributes steel.

The only component of those metal buildings that the company isn’t manufacturing right now is the metal doors, but that’s about to change.

RODCO expects the project to be completed in 2024.
