While speed demons may admire it, your average commuter will likely roll their eyes while shaking their heads.
Hidalgo County has landed in the top three for having the third fastest speeding ticket issued in the Lone Star State last year.
Intrepid reporters at The Drive, a popular online automotive news website, filed their annual Texas Public Information Act request with the Texas Department of Public Safety for records related to all speeding tickets issued for driver’s clocked barreling down roadways in excess of 120 mph.
And Hidalgo County landed in the top three after an unidentified motorist was caught driving 150 mph on I69C where the speed limit is 75 mph.
DPS couldn’t provide The Drive with the exact GPS coordinates, but the ticket was issued to the driver of a 2015 Dodge Charger at 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 21.
Hidalgo County also landed 49th on The Drive’s list with the unidentified driver of a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro getting a ticket for driving 133 mph on U.S. 281 during heavy traffic at 2:10 p.m. on Aug. 24.
