Ammunition found in restroom at South Texas Preparatory Academy

Edinburg police are investigating ammunition found Friday morning in a boys bathroom stall at the South Texas Preparatory Academy.

Authorities arrived at 724 S. Sugar Road around 10 a.m. Friday in reference to a call for service. At the scene, they were informed that a student had found ammunition in one of the boys bathroom stalls, according to an Edinburg news release.

After searching the campus, police found a total of six 9mm bullets with no other ammunition or weapons.

During that time the school was placed temporarily on lockdown.

The case is still under investigation by the Edinburg Police Department Juvenile Investigation Division who are interviewing several students.
