The Food Bank RGV will open a resource center in Mission in early March.

In a Tuesday news release, the Food Bank RGV announced that it will open its new Mission Resource Center in partnership with the city of Mission on March 2.

The center “will serve as a comprehensive hub for social services, nutrition education, and food assistance for the community.”

The center will be located at the former Mission Food Pantry, according to the release.

“The Mission Resource Center is part of the Food Bank RGV’s ongoing efforts to address food insecurity and related issues in the Rio Grande Valley,” the release stated. “The Center will provide a variety of services and resources to those in need, including access to an emergency food pantry, nutrition education classes, social services, and a hub for those seeking volunteer opportunities.”

Libby A. Saenz, CEO of the Food Bank RGV, is thrilled at the opening.

“We are thrilled to open our new Mission Resource Center, which will provide a range of essential services to those in need, including an emergency food pantry, nutrition education classes, and access to social services team (sic),” Saenz said in the release. “The Center will also serve as a hub for those looking to volunteer and make a positive impact in our community.”

There will be a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony at 9 a.m. on March 2.

“We invite the entire community to join us in celebrating the opening of the Mission Resource Center,” Saenz said. “This Center represents a new chapter in the Food Bank RGV’s ongoing efforts to fight hunger and provide support to our neighbors in need.”
