Brownsville police are investigating a major auto-pedestrian accident that left a man in critical condition late Tuesday night.
The accident happened about 6:11 p.m. at the 800 block of International Boulevard.
According to Brownsville police, an orange SUV was traveling on International Boulevard and struck a man walking in the middle of the road.
The man was wearing a black shirt and jeans and was crossing in a diagonal direction across International Boulevard, said investigator Martin Sandoval, spokesman for the Brownsville Police Department.
Witnesses told police that the SUV had a green light as it crossed the intersection, Sandoval said.
The man had no identification on him and was transported to the hospital in critical condition, Sandoval said.
A preliminary report indicates the man could be in his 60s.
