Mold. Animal feces. Drugs. Young children.

Brownsville police reported finding all of these Thursday inside a residence in the 1700 block of Grant Street, which resulted in the arrests of eight people on various charges.

While executing the search warrant, detectives found three young children aged 4, 3 and 10-months-old in a bedroom.

“The living conditions of the residence were deplorable,” police said on Facebook.

The Brownsville Health Department and Child Protective Services arrived at the scene and took custody of the children who are awaiting placement with families.

“The City of Brownsville Health Department was called since the floor of the residence was covered in animal feces, and mold was (on) the walls,” police said.

Those arrested include Evelyn Amaro, 37, who had traffic warrants. She received $2,000 in bonds.

Bertha Olivdo, 56, was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, engaging in organized criminal activity and three counts of abandoning and endangering a child with criminal neglect. She received a total of $85,000 in bonds.

Esau Alas Cruz, 30, Priscilla Amaro, 31, and Isaias Najera, 25, are all facing the same charges and received a total of $85,000 in bonds.

Leonardo Daniel Torres, 18, is charged with manufacturing and delivery of controlled substances and evading arrest, and received a total of $20,000 in bonds.

Amber Amaro, 22, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, engaging in organized criminal activity and three counts of abandoning and endangering a child with criminal neglect.

She received a total of $100,000 in bonds.

Juan Torres, 22, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest and possession of marijuana for a total of $16,000 in bonds.
