Active shooter training will be happening Monday and Tuesday in the Los Fresnos Consolidated School District.
District officials want the public to be aware to prevent concern regarding all the police vehicles that will be spotted at the school, where training will take place.
The LFCISD Police Department will participate in the Customs and Border Protection Active Shooter Training Program at Los Cuates Middle School, on Highway 100 in Los Fresnos.
Due to this training exercise, the public will see increased law enforcement presence at LCMS on these days as officers from multiple agencies participate in the training exercise, LFCISD posted on its website and Facebook page.
The training is part of ongoing proactive and collaborative efforts to ensure that staff prepared to rapidly respond to a reported active shooter emergency, district officials said.
The district has been communicating and working with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies this summer to create contingency plans in the event of campus emergencies, school officials said. This training will allow them to gain further education in a classroom setting, then execute a simulated real-world exercise, officials said.
