Man’s body found by walkers near Brownsville

Cameron County sheriff’s investigators on Wednesday are trying to determine the cause of death of a man whose body was found east of Brownsville.

Authorities believe foul play might be involved, the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department posted on its Facebook page.

Sheriff Eric Garza said the body was found early Wednesday morning by people on a morning walk. They immediately alerted authorities.

“I have investigators on the scene,” Garza said.

The body was found on Illinois Street. The man is believed to have been middle age.

Garza said authorities have identified the man but are waiting to notify his relatives before releasing his name.

An investigation into the man’s death continued Wednesday afternoon.
