Pharr company breaks ground on $22 million cold storage facility

The Pharr Economic Development Corporation hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for a company that promises to bring in more businesses and jobs with the expansion of its warehouse facilities.

Commodities Integrated Logistics, which has been doing business in Pharr for 30 years, is building a new state-of-the-art facility called Queenstown Park.

The company, which currently has over 1.15 million square-feet of warehouse space, is expanding its cold storage facility capacity by 10% by adding another 150,600 square-feet of space. Of that, 135,600 square-feet will be used for cold storage and 15,000 square-feet for office space.

Victor Perez, Pharr EDC President/CEO, said the new facility is a $22 million investment.

“When we bring a developer like that, especially one that has a good relationship with us and that we already have established a relationship, it brings sales taxes to the city and it brings jobs,” Perez said.

He estimated the project will create roughly 100 jobs for the area.

“This is huge because these kind of companies attract people,” Perez said. “We’re going to have more crossings through the Pharr bridge, which brings revenue to the city of Pharr. It creates a lot of commerce. It brings in more people who want to come and invest.”

The facility will provide processing, storage, and distribution services for several tenants.

Queenstown Park will be located on the Corner of Las Milpas and I Road, in Pharr. Construction is estimated to be completed in December 2023.
