Law enforcement authorities arrested a Brownsville man Wednesday after discovering nearly $74,000 in cash and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from a local residence.
The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release this week that Mariano Reyes Delgado was being questioned for his alleged involvement in money laundering and the illegal purchase of ammunition.
On Wednesday, when officers searched Delgado’s Brownsville home, the location of which authorities did not provide, they found 1,600 rounds of 9mm ammunition and $73,730, the sheriff’s office said in the release.
Delgado was charged by Homeland Security Investigations agents in Harlingen while the cash was seized by the sheriff’s office for state forfeiture proceedings, the release read.
The charge Delgado is facing remains unclear as of press time.
