Suspect arrested in case of man found dead in burning vehicle

The Hidalgo County sheriff’s office has arrested a suspect in the March 25 murder of a 37-year-old man who was kidnapped prior to being found dead in a burning vehicle.

Jorge Arredondo

Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra said on Twitter that the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Jorge Arredondo and charged him with capital murder for Teodoro Martinez’s death.

Deputies found Martinez in a burning vehicle on March 25 after responding to a kidnapping call at 12:23 a.m. before receiving a call for service regarding a burning vehicle on Mile 22 1/2 and Val Verde Road.

That’s where deputies found Martinez dead and on fire.

Arredondo is scheduled to make a first appearance in front of Justice of the Peace Jaime Munoz on Wednesday afternoon in the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center.
