Cases, deaths, hospitalizations all dropping in Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County reported no new COVID-19 related deaths and 16 new cases in a news release Tuesday.

The death toll in Hidalgo County due to COVID-19 remains at 3,887.

The new cases raise the tally to 197,563 since the start of the pandemic. As of Tuesday morning, there are 50 people hospitalized due to the virus. This is five less than what was reported the previous day.

Of those hospitalized, there are 42 adults and eight pediatric patients. The county also reported 12 people in the intensive care units with one being a pediatric patient.

There are also three new positive cases among schools’ staff and five among students.

Cameron County also reported 16 new cases Tuesday but no new deaths, leaving the toll at 2,225.
