Suspect at large after attempting to kidnap 2 men in Mission

The Mission Police Department is currently searching for a suspect in an attempted kidnapping at Fourth and Canal streets in Mission at about noon Sunday.

The suspect is described as being around 200 pounds, wearing a black shirt and camo pants, according to Mission police Public Information Officer Art Flores.

An eye witness called authorities when the attempted kidnapping of a 55-year-old male and an 18-year-old male occurred.

Officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit of a black Dodge Durango when the suspect’s passenger jumped out of the moving vehicle.

The passenger suffered a fracture and is currently in an induced coma at a nearby hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver bailed out of the vehicle in the vicinity of the 1600 block of North Inspiration and is still at large.

The 18-year-old has suffered some minor injuries requiring stitches, which are believed to have been caused by a pistol whip.

Mission SWAT is currently sweeping the area and making sure residents are safe.

This is a developing story with more details to come.
