Single death related to COVID reported in Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County reported a single death due to COVID-19 on Wednesday morning. The last time the county reported one death related to the coronavirus was Sunday, June 21, 2020, according to Monitor archives.

Deaths have been on the decline in the month of March, with the lowest daily report being three earlier this month. The county’s death toll is now at 2,766.

There are also 214 new cases, of which 121 have been confirmed, 69 probable and 24 suspected.

The case tally is now at 84,969 in Hidalgo County with 56,346 of which being confirmed, 27,107 probable and 1,516 suspected.

Hospitalizations have also remained in the low 100s for much of March. On Wednesday, the county reported 104 people in area hospitals with COVID-19, and 41 in intensive care units.

The number of individuals released from isolation was confirmed at 327 as of Wednesday.

There are currently 1,753 “net active cases.”

Of 442,763 tests administered, 357,106 have returned negative.
