A week has gone by since the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office announced that investigators suspected foul play after finding a dead man in a vehicle in rural Edinburg.

And public details into the investigation amount to zero as the department has released no further information on the case.

Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra said last Wednesday afternoon that deputies responded to the corner of Farm-to-Market Road 1925 and Las Canas Road at around 2:48 p.m. for the report of the body.

“The body is of an adult male and currently we believe he’s the victim of foul play,” Guerra said.

On Monday, the newspaper asked sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Frank Medrano whether the agency was able to release any information on the investigation, including the identification of the deceased and whether there are any suspects.

Medrano said an autopsy was conducted Monday and said no other details of the investigation are available.

The Monitor followed up Thursday morning and did not receive a response.
