Seven more deaths due to COVID-19 were confirmed Tuesday morning in Hidalgo County, bringing the death toll to 2,694.
County officials also confirmed 216 new cases of the virus in a news release, raising the total cases to 79,142.
Of the new cases, 68 are confirmed, 140 probable and eight suspected.
Also on Tuesday, 276 people were confirmed to have recovered from the virus, leaving 2,400 active cases in the county. So far, a total of 74,048 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the county.
Additionally, there currently are 152 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the county, of which 67 are in intensive care units.
