Hidalgo County confirmed another 853 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday morning and 12 more deaths.
In a news release, the county reported that of the new cases, 360 are confirmed, 490 are probable and three are suspected.
The new case load brought the county-wide tally to 74,894 cases of which 50,097 have been confirmed, 23,721 are probable and 1,076 suspected.
The 12 deaths raise the coronavirus toll in the county to 2,615 as of Wednesday.
Those who died include men and women ranging in age from their 50s to their 70s and hail from cities including Mission, Edinburg, McAllen, Donna, Weslaco and Mercedes.
Hospitalizations, the data which health officials often track to determine the rate of virus activity in a region, remains on the decline as 208 people with COVID-19 are being treated in hospitals within the county. This is down from the 215 reported Tuesday.
There are 113 in intensive care units.
The county also announced that 803 more people have been released from isolation for a total now of 70,367.
Of the 401,538 tests administered in the county, 325,894 have come back negative.
