Pre-registration is currently underway for vaccine distribution in Starr County.
From 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, individuals who qualify for a vaccine can pre-register with the county by either filling out an online form or calling the county’s hotline.

The county opened up registration in anticipation of Starr County Memorial Hospital being designated a vaccination hub, which would enable them to receive 1,000 vaccine doses on a weekly basis.
The doses will be administered to people who qualify under Phase 1A which include front-line healthcare workers, and Phase 1B which are people over 65 and people 16 and older with a chronic medical condition, according to guidelines listed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
The county will require proof of employment for those who register under Phase 1A.
