The South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce launched a Treasure Hunt $500 prize activity this month.
Now through Feb. 28, the public can pick up a Treasure Hunt entry card at a participating business or the SPI Chamber of Commerce, which is located at 610 Padre Blvd.
The 20 participating businesses include — Subway, Mahi Nic, BurgerFi, Ben’s Liquor, Island Cinema, Osprey Cruises, S.O.S. Services, SPI Art Space, Pirate’s Landing, D.F.B. To be eligible for $500 in gift certificates from participating businesses, Treasure Hunt participants need to visit each of the 20 businesses and get their card stamped.
Participants can drop off their stamped cards at the SPI Chamber of Commerce, SPI Visitor’s Center or SPI Birding, Nature Center and Alligator Sanctuary.
The drawing will be held on Tuesday, March 2.
According to SPI Chamber of Commerce Marketing Director Dianna Harvill, the Treasure Hunt is a new activity created by the Island Ambassadors Committee.
“It’s actually a replacement for this year for our annual Walk the Dock that we did, but because of gathering of people and everything we couldn’t do that, so we still wanted to do something to just help get people into our local businesses to stimulate the economy some,” she said.
Harvill said the activity provides an opportunity for the public to discover businesses they weren’t aware of, see what they have and meet people.
