Hidalgo County reports 9 more COVID-19 deaths, 718 more cases

Nine Hidalgo County residents died due to COVID-19 complications and another 718 people tested positive, the county reported Friday.

The nine deceased individuals include a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 60s and seven men and women over 70 years old. The county has a total of 2,427 COVID-related deaths.

Of the 718 people who tested positive, 442 are confirmed positive while 275 are probable, and one is only a suspected case.

Of the total 63,551 positive cases reported since the start of the pandemic, 2,318 are considered active.

The county also reported there were 425 COVID-19 hospitalizations. Of those, 149 patients are being treated in an intensive care unit.
