Cameron County reports 3 virus deaths

Three more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department reported Friday.

The deaths were reported in Brownsville and Harlingen and included two people in their 70s and one person in his 90s, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.

This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Cameron County to 1,146, the health department said.

Also Friday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 113 COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of cases here to 27,291.

New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, La Feria, Laguna Heights, Laguna Vista, Los Fresnos, Port Isabel, Primera, San Benito and Santa Maria.

The new cases include five children ages 9 and younger, 23 people ages 10 to 19, 12 people in their 20s, 12 people in their 30s, 16 people in their 40s, 22 people in their 50s, 15 people in their 60s, five people in their 70s and three people in their 80s.

There have also been an additional 105 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 24,081.
