The Children’s Museum of Brownsville has partnered with the Rotary Club of Historic Brownsville and the Department of Family Protective Services to launch the 16th annual Heart Gallery of the Rio Grande Valley adoption event
The Heart Gallery will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 and it will be streamed live via the Children’s Museum of Brownsville’s Facebook page
As of 2019, there are approximately 440,000 children in the foster care system nationwide. Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the warmth and happiness of a supportive family, and Heart Gallery will once again aim to help these children make connections with potential foster parents.
Due to COVID-related concerns, this year will be the first in which the event, typically held within the museum’s auditorium, will instead be presented as a virtual event via social media.
The virtual event will showcase a number of children in foster care who are actively seeking adoption. Those who may be interested in adopting a child or children will have the opportunity to gather information and ask questions.
Among those who will be answering questions about the adoption process will be Historic Brownsville Rotarian and adoption advocate Dr. Mary Curtis, DFPS Adoption Specialist Jennifer Soto, and forever parents who will share stories about their own adoption experiences.
Framed photos and biographies of the featured children will be displayed in the Children’s Museum of Brownsville’s auditorium and will remain up until the end of the year.
