Silent March scheduled for Memorial Day

Although the traditional Memorial Day Silent March held every year sponsored by the City of Brownsville has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, another one will be held in its place.

The Castillo Family of Brownsville is asking everyone to participate in their Silent March on Monday to remember those troops killed in the line of duty.

The Silent March will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the H-E-B located at Central and Boca Chica boulevards, where pictures will be taken.

The Silent March will then take off from the H-E-B on Central Boulevard and end at the Veterans Park on Central Boulevard.

People planning to participate in the event must wear a facial mask or other facial covering.

They are also encouraged to walk in small groups. And since it is a silent march, attendees are encouraged to remain silent during the walk.
