Hidalgo County urging residents to pay delinquent property taxes to avoid additional fees

The Hidalgo County Tax Assessor & Collector office is encouraging property owners with delinquent balances on their 2017 taxes to pay up by July 2 in order to avoid higher interest and penalties, according to a news release.

All taxes, penalties, and interest that remain unpaid as of July 3 will incur an additional attorney fee to defray the cost of collection. Typically, the deadline is June 30, however, as it falls on the weekend, taxpayers have until 5 p.m. Monday, July 2 to make payments.

Taxpayers can pay online at www.hidalgocountytax.org, by mail to Hidalgo County Tax Office, Pablo “Paul” Villarreal, P.O. Box 178, Edinburg, Texas 78540, or at the following locations weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
