Another arrest made in Edinburg voter fraud investigation

EDINBURG — Investigators arrested a fifth person in connection with an alleged voter fraud scheme Friday afternoon.

Francisco Tamez Jr., 33, was arrested by the Texas Rangers and investigators from the Texas Attorney General’s Office, according to information from Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Johnny Hernandez.

The arrest comes about a week after four people were arrested for voting illegally and providing false information on a voter registration card.

The Texas Attorney General warned Wednesday more arrests could occur. Details about Tamez’s arrest were not immediately available Friday afternoon.
