Brownsville Tejano artist Lorenzo “Lorenzini” Lopez added another accolade to his rising career when he won Best Songwriter of the Year at the 5th All Star Music Awards over the Memorial Day weekend in San Antonio.

“Just being nominated was a huge win for me, but to come back with the award of Best Songwriter of the year 2023 is something I truly love,” Lopez said Wednesday in Brownsville. “It truly is a great feeling, an honor.”

Lopez traces his roots to 20 years spent as a roadie, sound engineer and road manager for the Brownsville Tejano group El Súper Grupo MAZZ from 1979 to 1997, according to biographical information provided by his wife Judy Lopez.

During that time, his musical talents as a composer surfaced, and Lorenzini used his spare time to compose his own original songs, working alongside legendary Brownsville artist, the late Jimmy González.

Two of Lorenzini’s Country & Western compositions were arranged by González and recorded by El Súper Grupo MAZZ. “Why,” which was included on the 1987 album “Beyond,” made the Top 100 in the Country & Western Music charts. A few years later, Pasty Torres also recorded “Why,” the biography states.

The following year, “Tonight” another of Lorenzini’s gems, was included in the 1988 Grupo MAZZ album “Straight from The Heart.” Lopez then went on to assist in writing several other songs throughout his career with the band.

Fast forward to 2019, when Lorenzini released the original “Can’t Get Over You” as a solo artist. In the interim, he had continued to write and record original music in his LorenziniMuzic recording studio.

“The tunes are all based on his own life experiences. Lorenzini puts his heart and soul into his lyrics, so fans can relate to his songs from their own personal experiences,” according to the biography.

Also in 2019, Lorenzini released “Tu Ausencia,” a compact disc album arranged by Brando Mireles, Jr., keyboardist and musical director to El Súper Grupo MAZZ.

In addition to Songwriter of the Year, “LORENZINIMUZIC VOL 1” was nominated for album of the year at the 5th Annual All Star Music Awards.

In 2022, Lopez wrote and released 20 original songs on two albums and one single: the “Simplemente” album plus the single “Christmas with You” with Madison Pulido, and “LORENZINIMUZIC VOL 1,” performed by Lopez.

All songs were recorded at LorenziniMuzic Studio, and all musical arrangements are by Brando Mireles, Jr

Lopez was also nominated for album of the year for “LORENZINMUZIC VOL 1.”

LorenziniMuzic is making a five-piece boy group like *NSYNC/Menudo style, calling it (Border Bandits) Del Valle.

Lopez said he plans to have auditions at LorenziniMuzic studio, 7517 Boca Chica Blvd. in Brownsville, during June and July and to have the album ready by Labor Day.

“Brando and I already have 20 songs English and Spanish. Please spread the word that we are recruiting talent,” he said.
