FBI assists in arresting man for threats against Edinburg Vela High School

FBI and Edinburg school district police arrested a man Friday for making threats against Vela High School, the district announced.

According to a release, the man made the alleged threats via email and parents were notified Thursday.

The district says the FBI assisted in locating and arresting the man.

“These kinds of threats are serious and we intend to prosecute any individual that makes a threat against any of our schools,” Superintendent of Schools Mario Salinas wrote.

The district has a news conference slated for 4 p.m. to release more information on the incident.
