Vanguard Academy announced Friday morning that an arrest has been made after a credible threat of violence.

It’s unclear which campus was the target of the threat.

“In light of recent events, and in abundance of caution, we have been working closely with our local police departments and we have been able to contain the matter immediately off site where an arrest was made,” a news release from the district said Friday.

Vanguard campuses were placed into a “soft-lockdown” Friday morning.

The district announced Wednesday that it would be placing extra law enforcement personnel at schools through the end of the year.

So far, eight individuals in the Rio Grande Valley have been arrested after allegedly threatening local schools.

Donna, Mercedes, PSJA and Raymondville ISDs have all announced apprehensions after threats.

A variety of districts have announced changed calendars and increased law enforcement measures.
