Man last seen at Weslaco Wings and Rings restaurant found dead

Weslaco police on Wednesday found the body of a man whose car was located in the area of a canal hours earlier. 

According to a news release, the department was informed that a vehicle belonging to 30-year-old Jesus Angel Romo was found in the area of an irrigation district canal near Hutto Road and Sioux Road.

Romo was reported missing on Tuesday at 7:18 p.m., according to a prior news release. 

That release also stated that Romo was last seen Monday evening at a Wings and Rings restaurant in Weslaco. 

Police deployed resources “immediately” to the area with assistance from other law enforcement agencies, the release stated. 

At approximately 6:17 p.m., a body was found by the department, with assistance from the Donna Fire Department and Weslaco Fire Department, north of Mile 9 North on Goolie Road outside of Donna. 

“The body located is believed to be that of Jesus Angel Romo,” police said in the release.

The investigation has been turned over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.
