No ‘threat’ to public in Edinburg death investigation

The Edinburg Police Department has opened an investigation into the death of a 28-year-old woman who was found unresponsive inside an apartment on Wednesday afternoon.

In a news release, police said officers were dispatched for a welfare concern to the 3700 block of Sarah Evans Street, where authorities found the unresponsive woman.

Justice of the Peace Charlie Espinoza pronounced her dead.

The woman’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

“An autopsy has been ordered and the incident is still under investigation,” the release stated. “There is no known threat and/or danger to the public as the investigation continues at the scene.”

No other information was immediately released.
