The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that in-person visitation for inmates at the county’s Adult Detention Center will recommence Monday.
This will mark the first time since March 13, 2020, that visitors will be allowed to the facility pending safety procedures.
“All visitors will have their temperatures checked and all necessary screening procedures will be followed upon entry into the visitation lobby,” a statement read on the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. “Only one (1) visitor will be allowed to enter the visitation lobby and no swapping of visitors will be permitted. Children’s weekend will be the first complete weekend of every month and only one (1) child will be allowed to visit accompanied by adult.”
Visitation hours can also be found on the sheriff’s office Facebook page. Anyone with questions regarding visitation is encouraged to call (956) 381-7900.
Guerra announced on March 13, 2020, that beginning the next day in-person visitation would be suspended as a precaution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a safety protocol implemented then by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.
