City to hold virtual talks today to discuss arrival of COVID-19 vaccine

Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez, Art Rodriguez and Dr. Joseph McCormick will host a virtual BTXCares Talks at noon today to discuss the arrival and availability of the COVID-19 vaccine in Brownsville.

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has been recently approved by the FDA for distribution in a phased approach throughout communities across the country. As cities begin to receive and implement the vaccine, Mendez, Rodriguez and McCormick will discuss the vaccine’s availability and plan for distribution.

Rodriguez is the city’s public health director and McCormick is an epidemiologist and director of UTHealth Clinial Research Units at UT Brownsville.

In addition, Rodriguez will provide recommendations on how to be safe against COVID-19 as the holidays approach.
