Cameron County reports 3 COVID-19 deaths

Three more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department reported Tuesday.

The deaths were reported in Brownsville and Harlingen and included a man in his 40s, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 70s, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.

This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Cameron County to 1,153, the health department said.

Also Tuesday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 157 COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of cases in Cameron County to 27,743.

The new cases include eight children ages 9 and younger, 22 people ages 10 to 19, 33 people in their 20s, 36 people in their 30s, 23 people in their 40s, 17 people in their 50s, 10 people in their 60s, four people in their 70s and four people in their 80s, the health department said.

There have also been an additional 104 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 24,258.
