The Brownsville Independent School District welcomed a new Board of Trustees on Thursday afternoon as five new members received certificates of election, were sworn into office and and took their seats on the board.
BISD will have one of the youngest and least experienced boards in recent memory, but the new members in expressed optimism along with the two veteran members who constitute the new board.
Each new member was administered the oath of office by a judge of their choosing, afterward taking pictures with the judge and members of their families. The board then reorganized by electing new officers for the coming year.
The new members are:

>> Position 3: Jessica G. Gonzalez
>> Position 5: Daniela Lopez Valdez
>> Position 6: Marisa F. Leal
>> Position 7: Eddie Garcia
