Thousands of early ballots mailed to voters

Nearly 9,000 Cameron County voters will be receiving their mail in ballots in the next few days.

Cameron County Elections Administrator Remi Garza says 8,696 ballots were taken to the post office and should arrived in mailboxes early next week. He said a second batch of 1,729 ballots will be mailed on Monday.

“This year there are now options to submit your ballot. If you need information, do not hesitate to call or visit our website for return instructions,” Garza said in a news release.

He said voters can mail their ballots, send them via UPS, FedEx or drop them off at his office located at 1050 E. Madison St. in Brownsville. Garza said the ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and arrive in his office by Nov. 4.
