Capital murder trial for McAllen man reset

The trial date for a McAllen man accused of killing his estranged wife and dumping her body in the Laguna Madre last May was postponed Thursday until August.

Terry Lee Adams, 68, is charged with capital murder in connection with the death of Martha Beatrice Adams, 53, of McAllen. Her body was found April 30.

The couple had been married for 12 years but had recently separated at the time of the murder. Adams was scheduled for trial Monday.

Monte Eric Jordan, 60, the victim’s son-in-law, also is charged with capital murder. At the time of his arrest, authorities said Jordan allegedly participated in the killing and disposal of Martha Adams’ body. Investigators reported finding zip ties in Jordan’s vehicle similar to zip ties used to bind the victim.
