The Office of Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. announced Friday that more than 30 county employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
Due to privacy laws, Cameron County will not release specific employee information but the employees were from the Purchasing Department, Constable Precinct 1, Justice of the Peace 1 and 4 Office, Public Works Precinct 3 Office, Juvenile Probation Department, Pre-Trial Services, Auditor’s Office, Tax Assessor Collector’s Office, Adult Probation Department, International Bridge System, Parks System, Sheriff’s Office, Public Health Department, County Clerk’s Office and the Vehicle Maintenance Department, officials said.
“ Area hospitals in Cameron County are now beyond capacity and we need your support in flattening the curve,” Trevino said in the press release.
“ Please heed the advice and mandates in place and continue to shelter-in-place, utilize a facial covering and social distance,” Trevino said.
The Cameron County Public Health department is working closely with elected officials and department heads to continue taking the appropriate steps to keep their employees and the public safe, officials said.
Constituents are asked to continue to conduct business online by going through the county’s website at cameroncounty.us, the press release reads.
“ We all have the responsibility to keep each other safe and healthy,” Treviño said.
