Flood advisory issued for parts of Cameron County

The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a flood advisory for Central Cameron County until 5:45 p.m. today.

At 234 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Los Fresnos, Laureles, Olmito, Port Of Brownsville, Cameron Park, Brownsville, Los Fresnos High School, Palmer Laasko Elementary, Los Fresnos City Offices, Lopez – Riggins Elementary School, Los Cuates, Resaca Middle School, Library Memorial Middle School, Rancho Verde Elementary School, Holly Beach, Olmito Lake, Gallegos Elementary School, Vela Middle School, Brownsville Sports Park and Brownsville Event Center.
