SAN BENITO — After a holiday break, students are being welcomed back to class at this school district with the option of having face-to-face or virtual instruction.
San Benito CISD began instruction on Wednesday and is permitting students currently learning via face-to-face instruction to have remote asynchronous instruction now through Tuesday, Jan. 19.
“The aforementioned option is highly recommended, particularly, if you celebrated with anyone outside of your household this holiday break,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nate Carman stated in an announcement published on the district’s website. “Keeping your children on remote (virtual) asynchronous instruction for the next two weeks would be a precautionary measure for their safety and that of others, including our students and campus personnel.”
Carman stated that ultimately, safety is the priority.
Those who choose to select remote asynchronous instruction must inform their child’s teacher as soon as possible.
“Nonetheless, if you choose to continue to send your child to face-to-face (on-site) instruction, we will welcome them with a cheerful smile and open arms,” Carman stated.
Carman stated that the school district encourages everyone to be mindful of practicing social distancing, wearing a mask around others, following all emergency management orders issued by area county judges and taking preventive measures at home, such as washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
“Thank you for your cooperation. Together, we can keep our families and community safe while also slowing the spread of COVID-19,” Carman stated. “May 2021 bring you and your family health and much prosperity.”
