Cameron County reports 2 COVID-19 deaths

Two more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department reported Tuesday.

This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths here to 1,070, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.

Both cases were reported in Brownsville and included a man in his 40s and a woman in her 80s.

Also Tuesday, the health department said it has confirmed an additional 53 coronavirus cases here, raising the total number of cases in Cameron County to 23,871.

The individuals include a child aged 9 or younger, 13 people aged 10 to 19, 11 people in their 20s, eight people in their 30s, two people in their 40s, nine people in their 50s, six people in their 60s, one person in her 70s, one person in her 80s and one person in his 90s.

There have also been an additional 82 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 21,557.
